As I mentioned in my last post, smoke from the So. California fires can be seen for many miles. This MODIS shot from yesterday (courtesy of the MODIS Active Fire Maps page) shows smoke heading right towards Las Vegas and Lake Mead.
Landsat 7 will be overhead those fires today, but I'm guessing smoke will severely hinder that acquisition. We haven't had any calls for BAER teams on those fires yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if that call comes in the coming week.
