Uh, yeah, it started. California had a busy weekend due to large dry lightning storms. At least half these guys are on USFS lands, so I'll probably be mapping them.

Well, at least there are things out there that will allow your employer to feel good for having something to pay you for. I hate to see so much distruction in fires, but that mapping stuff is what you do.
I'm a remote sensing analyst for RedCastle Resources under contract at the U.S. Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC) in Salt Lake City, UT. My primary job is to use remote sensing and GIS technologies to map the burn severity of wildfires on all U.S. Forest Service lands. This blog is an attempt to chronicle my efforts.
