Long Days

Today was crazy--

I had some successful image acquisitions over the weekend and I had them all to do today. I came in early Saturday morning to map the Day Fire (134,000 acre fire on the Los Padres NF in SoCal), then got here at 7:30 am this morning. I just finished mapping my 8th (!) fire today at 5 pm. Non stop mapping. I'm tired. The fires I mapped are:
  • East Roaring (Boise NF)
  • South Fork Complex (Payette NF)
  • Red Mountain (Boise NF)
  • Rattlesnake Complex (Boise NF)
  • Boundary Complex (Salmon-Challis NF)
  • Black Butte (Nez Perce NF)
  • Ulm Peak (Idaho Panhandle NF)
  • Pinnacles (San Bernardino NF)
I shouldn't complain. I've been trying to acquire imagery of the Idaho fires for over a month now. We finally got cloud-free imagery over most of them, but I did have snow to compete with on a few of them.

Things should be slowing down considerably. The only thing that will burn now is Southern California. I can handle that. I've already done that in 2003.
