Fire to snow?

I've been tracking a lot of fires in Idaho for the last month. These guys have put out a bunch of smoke and we've also had a lot of cloud interference when attempting to get imagery. Well, this last weekend they got snow. The same thing happened in Montana on the Jungle Fire. This image is an example of what I'm talking about. We go from burning fires to mapping snow! The perspective shown here is looking southwest toward a ranch (the bright red splotch at the bottom of the valley in the top center of the image), which is the most significant value at risk in regards to this fire scar. The burned land is black, vegetation is red, and snow is white. This is an ASTER 15m VNIR scene.
