Trying to keep up!

Man, this fire season has been busy. These guys just don't seem to be ending. We had a number of successful image acquisitions over the weekend that will keep me busy all afternoon. Landsat path 45 acquired on Saturday and I've got seven fires on that path that need mapping. All were clear, so I placed the order Sunday afternoon after church. I was a little frustrated, however, at the BAER team on the Tripod Complex, the largest complex in the country right now (as far as resources committed and importance). The fire is currently 45% contained and has burned 139,000 acres. The BAER team leader called me Sunday morning around 10:30am and asked when I'd get Saturday's Landsat image and BARC out to them. My perspective was this: the fire isn't even half contained, they are adding a few thousand acres to the perimeter every day, I've already done two BARCs for this fire, and I'll probably do one next month as well. So I didn't arrange for Sunday delivery of the data for those reason.

Well, apparently, the BAER team wanted to fly the fire this morning and wanted the latest and greatest BARC and imagery to compare their aerial observations with. Oops. They can still use previous iterations of the BARC and should do just fine.

Other fires I'm mapping today:

Busy Monday...
