Creating BARCs for everyone

This morning capped a very busy and crazy 4 days of fire mapping. Since Friday morning, I've mapped 6 fires / complexes represented by 11 different Landsat scenes. Friday was non-stop downloading, importing, processing, and delivery of data for field teams. Saturday we got two more scenes. This morning I got a scene that was acquired yesterday. The fun thing about all this was that the six fires represented a myriad of vegetation types and ecosystems. I mapped the following:
  • Cavity Lake: Minnesota Boundary Waters
  • Sage: Northern California sage brush country near Alturas
  • Maxwell: Central Oregon
  • Dawes County Complex: Nebraska National Forest (yes, one does exist) near Chadron
  • Flick Creek: Right on Lake Chelan in central Washington
  • Tripod Complex: Close to Winthrop, WA; this guy is very active and already nearly 60,000 acres burned.
It's been a busy time.
