I came in to work this morning and checked out the situation report (http://www.nifc.gov/news/sitreprt.pdf) and noticed a few new starts in Region 3 (Arizona and New Mexico). I made a note of the fires on Forest Service lands (103, Knife, Corn Field, and 277) on my spreadsheet and figured out when the next Landsat and ASTER passes would be.
I got an email from the Region 3 Regional BAER Coordinator requesting imagery and a BARC (burned area reflectance classification) for the 103 fire on the Coronado NF. She had just sent a BAER team down to check the landscape out. This fire is just about in Mexico, 8 miles south of Sierra Vista, AZ. I mapped a few fires for the Coronado NF last year. Turns out the next Landsat overpass will be Thursday, June1, so we'll get that if it's cloud-free.
