Changes in Personnel

We're going through some considerable change at RSAC in the next few months/year. Our center manager announced this week that he's leaving to take a new position where he'll answer directly to the deputy of the USFS. Lucky for him, he'll be able to remain in Salt Lake even though it's a Washington D.C. job. He said to expect a new center manager by the end of the year (good ol' Federal Government -- can't do anything (!) fast). To fill the void, we'll have 120-day details for the position.

We also have 5 program areas at RSAC. Within a year or so, three of the program leaders will have retired. None of these program leader positions will be filled until after the center manager is replaced. One of the current program leaders is actually doing a Washington detail through July.

Lots of holes. Lots of changes. Not sure how it'll impact me and my future; only time will tell. There are only 10 federal FTE (full time employee) positions at my office -- the other 40 of us are contractors -- so these positions are coveted.

Are you in a position to apply for the job? It seems as though you're getting quite a bit of face time with other folks in DC. Just wondering...

Chelsey, I'm about three pay grades and 10 years of management experience away from that position. But it'll be interesting to see the trickle down effect.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe one of those positions will open up that would allow you to apply. I sure hope so. I'm rooting for you to stay around this area!
