I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last wrote. I arrived in DC last night. Well, I actually got here early this morning (checked into my hotel at 12:30am)...and it's not really DC. I'm staying at the Greenbelt, MD, Marriott Hotel. I'm right across from NASA Goddard, south of NSA and the Ft. Meade NGA office, and still about 10 miles from downtown DC.
I spent all day today in a ResourceSat seminar. The morning was a little drab because all the talk was about crop monitoring and mapping. The afternoon was much better and they spoke about things applicable to my work. I was also able to put faces to names and meet some people who will be useful in my work for next summer's fire season.
I have tomorrow off, basically, and will spend it doing some sightseeing. I will head downtown (on the Metro) to see the sights, like the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. I will also hopefully hook up with a college classmate, who now works in Reston, for lunch.
Fun trip so far. I'm very (!) tired today, though.
