I'm currently on a fire BAER assignment for the Neola North Fire in eastern Utah. I'm basically here as a trainee where I'm watching and learning. However, I am doing some of the mapping for the incident here on site. This is a DOI BAER team and they not only require a soil burn severity map, but a vegetation mortality map as well. I utilized the RAVG (RdNBR) technique for that and it worked out very well. I was pleased with the results.
There is another Landsat collect tomorrow and we'll get it if it's clear. If it comes in clear, we'll hopefully wait for the image late tomorrow night, download it, and process it here. Then I'll make the new BARC map and new veg products. They can get by without a new version, but a new version will help. I have my doubts we'll get a clear image. There have been lots of clouds over the burn scar today and yesterday.
We drove the whole fire perimeter today and I got to see most the fire. It was fun to see that.

Have you already explained what a BAER team is? What are you doing? I'm excited that you get this opportunity. Hey, I also like the beard.
