Before I'd even finished the 103 Fire, I got another request, this time for the La Barranca Fire near Sedona, AZ. CNN already has an article up about the fire. I'm scheduled to get an ASTER scene next Wednesday, June 7. Hopefully, the fire activity by then will have died down (jumped from 40 acres to 1,500 acres overnight) and we'll be free of smoke and clouds when the picture is acquired.
Everything is so dry down in Arizona and New Mexico that the right conditions (or is it the "wrong" conditions?) will result in a massive wildfire. It happened last year as the Cave Creek Complex north of Phoenix took off and burned ~250k acres of land...granted, most of that land wasn't covered with any trees, but it burned nonetheless.

I told you the other day that I get around to reading, too. Your stuff is cool. Keep it coming. You must get some excitement out or the rapidly changing world of fires. The only fire I really got going was the one where I burnt down Dad's barn. It was not too cool, and I never saw a sat. photo. There was plenty of devistation.
I just looked at the rest of your postings. They should pay you more. You are good and obviously love what you do. That is a great combination. Bless you Jess.
