I'm traveling to La Grande, Oregon tomorrow to attend a workshop. Forest Service Regions 1 (N. Idaho and Montana) and 6 (Oregon and Washington) are hosting a workshop for BAER team leaders. It's billed as a BAER Refresher and covers two full days with a number of speakers. I was invited to come and present about the BARC product and how remote sensing can be used to assist BAER teams in their job.
Incidentially, I was about 50 miles north of La Grande last fall on a field sampling visit to the Burnt Cabin Fire. There is some pretty country up there. My brother was born there some 30 years ago as well, while my folks lived there for a brief (~1 yr.) time.
The PowerPoint is ready, the hotel, airfare, and rental car have been secured, and I think I have all my data on my jump drive. It'll be nice to get out of the office for a brief break. I enjoy getting out as often as I do...it's not too much that it strains my family life, but it's not too infrequent that my SkyMiles glaze over from lack of additions.
